世界中の友達

Hola de nuevo to my intern blog! Soy Claire de los Estados Unidos y trabajo por Hippo en Japón .

Yo he estado en Japón por cerca de 2 meses ahora. 仕事は忙しいでも楽しい!

We did a Thanksgiving special for MKP! I told the story of Thanksgiving and told the meaning of the holiday. We also made hand turkeys, did a 火鸡 themed Biribiri game in Chinese, and a multilingual scavenger hunt game!

MFB was so fun! We played many games like fish and net, 多言語スクランブル, アンボー rock paper scissors, and more!

Hippo has the chicken dance song in French, but they do a different dance. I showed my host mom the dance I knew and now she has me teach it at family and workshops. It’s always fun!

At a コクリカ my host mom let me wear a traditional hat she got in Finland! I could tell that is was a Saami hat! Jeg visste det på grunn av min tid i Norge! Jeg er veldig interssert i kulturen deres så jeg var så gald å har på seg hatten!

I also got to meet two people from Malaysia! I introduced myself in Malaysian and they both wrote a note for me in my journal. They wore traditional clothes and the girl taught us a Malaysian dance. Terima kasih!

As my host mom said, I have been 猫シック (cat-sick, like homesick), so I was very happy to stumble upon a cat cafe in 池袋!I was joined by two other people after a while. I realized that they spoke Japanese, but were also speaking another language together. 中文? No, it was more flowy. Southeast Asian probably. Thai? Maybe. So I just decided to ask them! They were Vietnamese and have been living in Japan for 5 years. I said “xin chào” that I learned from Hippo! Then I told them “ごめん。xin chàoだけ知ってる” and I was surprised when they said “xin chàoだけじゃない!本当にうれしかった!” They were so happy that I knew just a few words of their language and that also made me happy and wanting to learn more of many languages. When we left, we said “Tạm biệt” to each other

I have a recharge in my heart for my cat-sickness and motivation for languages at the cafe!
